Programme Introduction

The SQA Advanced Diploma in Retail Management is designed for students who want to enter into positions in a wide range of retail organisations at an operational, supervisory or team leader or managerial level with the aim to develop skills and knowledge in customer care and retail management. Students will have sound understanding of the everyday operation of the retail industry. Moreover, this programme also broadens and deepens the knowledge, understanding and skills of students in key areas of management, finance and marketing as well as managing, controlling and presenting stock.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be awarded the SQA Advanced Diploma in Retail Management by the Scottish Qualifications Authority, UK.

DIMENSIONS International College is an SQA Approved Center for the above programmer.

The programmer consists of two components:

I. Theory and practical lessons conducted at DIMENSIONS International College (18 months).
II. Industrial Attachment (IA)/ Work Experience*. Students will be attached to retail establishments (6 months).

Objective

This course is designed with the aim to equip students in the retail sector with the following learning objectives:

• To acquire a sound apprehension of the current and future trends in the retail environment in which the retail sectors operate and their impacts on organisations
• To gain well-rounded insights into the areas of corporate image and identity, comprehending their effects on a retail store
• To broaden and deepen the knowledge in the principles and practices of merchandising, operations management, financial management and marketing
• To grasp an in-depth understanding of the underpinning concepts of management and finance

Designed for

The SQA Advanced Diploma in Retail Management is a 2-year course, exclusively designed for students who are interested in careers in the retail industry, retailers, store managers, department managers, and students who set their sights on earning a degree in the near future.

Duration

18 months Institutional Training and 6 months Industrial Attachment (IA)* (Total 24 months)

Maximum allowed period for a student to complete the course is 36 months of Institutional Training excluding Industrial Attachment (IA) period.
