The University has risen in The Complete University Guide, an independent ranking of excellence across 129 UK universities. It has climbed five places and is now ranked 51st in the UK, from 56th in 2018. This also means that the University of Portsmouth is now 8th in the south-east region. We're a top 30 UK university for teaching quality and student experience, according to The Times Good University Guide 2019.

More importantly the University was ranked as the number one university in the UK for boosting graduate salaries, according to The Economist. 2017 and 97.5% of our graduates are in work or further study six months after graduating, according to the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey 2017.

Graduation

Students who have successfully completed all course work and passed the examinations will receive the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Media and Digital Practice awarded by the University of Portsmouth, UK.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be age 17 and above and meet one of the following requirements:
Year 2 Entry^:

• Higher Diploma+ in Mass Communications awarded by MDIS OR
• Relevant Diploma level qualifications awarded by other Private Education Institutions (PEIs) or recognized Higher Education providers in a media-and-communications-related discipline, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Year 1 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 12 years of formal education*

Year 3 Entry^:

• Relevant polytechnic diplomas in a media-and-communications-related discipline, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Year 1 AND Year 2 of the University course) with a pass grade* OR
• Relevant overseas polytechnic diplomas in a media-and-communications-related discipline, (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Year 1 AND Year 2 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 10 years of formal education* OR
• Higher National Diploma (HND) in media-and-communications-related disciplines* OR
• Relevant PEI qualification in a media-and-communications-related discipline (which are deemed by the University to be equivalent to Year 1 AND Year 2 of the University course) with an entry requirement of 12 years of formal education*.

^ Note: Some applicants may need to take bridging modules within the programmer and/or from International Diploma in Mass Communications awarded by MDIS to secure entry onto the programmer.
* All applications are subject to University approval through its Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and procedures.

English Language Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following English Language requirements:

• Possess a minimum C6 grade in English at GCE 'O' Level OR
• IELTS score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5) OR
• TOEFL score of 550 OR
• Completed MDIS Professional Certificate in English (PCIE) OR
• Equivalent
